In addition to the comfortable and relaxing heat effect from the steam, there are many other benefits also when you add some herbs to it.

  • Skin Benefit:
    One of the benefits of steam is the glowing skin. As steam is frequently used in spas for facial treatment. Steam has the ability to open the facial skin pores, to soften the skin and improve the blood circulation.
  • Fighting Against Congestion:
    Herbal steam has been used from Ancient times for the resolution of congestion due to flu and cough. Mixing of herbs in steam gives extra benefits. Breathing in the steam helps to reduce the congestion and give relief.

How to Do Herbal Face Steam

Unlike any other remedy the best thing about herbal face steams is that it takes just three minute approx. to prepare it. Moreover it is very simple to make and there are chances that you might already have these herbs in your kitchen.




Ingredients Required

  1. A large pot or some type of bowl
  2. One tablespoon of each of the herbs:  rosemary, thyme, basil, lavender, eucalyptus and peppermint.
  3. Two towels of large size

How to prepare

  1. First of all, put about 3~4 inch of water in the large pot and boil it. Or, in case you are using a bowl, boil water in a kettle and pour into the bowl.
  2. Then fold a towel in half and place it on a solid and heat-proof flat surface. It can be a table or counter, and place the pot or bowl on top of this towel.
  3. Add any of the herbs (mentioned above), mix it well and then cover with lid for about 2~3 minute.

Herbal Face Steam Instructions

  1. Now, remove the lid and check temperature of steam to be sure it is not too hot for your face.
  2. Lean over the pot and cover your head with a towel to create a tent like; by letting as little air outflow as possible.
  3. Gently breathe in the steam for up to 10 minute. Try to breathe in through nose and breathe out through your mouth so that congestion in nose can be loosen.
  4. Once you are done, pour out the liquid of mixed herbs and don’t reuse it.
  5. For the added skin benefit, clean/wipe your face with cotton or any clear cloth to remove any dust or particles removed from pores.

Important

Please note, you should take special care while young children are having steam, because of heat of the steam. Pregnant women should consult the doctors first due to herbal effects.
