1. Find distresses, but don’t live on them: You should try to identify any situations/signs that have added to your depression. When you know that what’s got you feeling blue and reason for that, have a talk about it with someone who cares for you. As talking is a way to release the feelings and to have some understanding and solution of the problem rather than living with it.

Once you ventilate these thoughts and feelings, then turn your attention to something more positive. You should definitely take action to solve the problems. You can also ask someone for help if you need it. Also feeling connected to friends and family can help release depression. By doing so they will also feel that they can do something to help you out, rather than just watching you stressed and hurt.

2. Do Exercise: you should take a 15 to 30 minute brisk walk, jog, dance, cycling. Depressed people may not feel much like being active. But try to make yourself do it anyway. You can also get along a friend to have company during the activity. Once you get in the exercise routine, it will not take long to notice a positive difference in your mood. Breathing exercise and meditation can also be helpful and make you feel better.

3. Express yourself: This is true that with the depression, a person’s creativity and sense of fun gets blocked. So always exercise your imagination like dancing, drawing, painting, drawing, sewing, music and composing etc. by doing this, you will have the creative mind and creativity and positive energy flowing inside yourself. You also loosen up some positive emotions. You should have time to play with a friend or a pet or a loved one, or do something fun for yourself own. Try to find something to laugh about. A funny movie, perhaps. Also keep in mind that laughter helps you to lighten your mood.

4. Have Nutrition: Depression can affect your appetite; so try to nurture yourself with the good nutrition. One person may not feel like eating at all, but another person might overeat. If the depression has affected your eating routine, you will have to be extra careful of getting the right nutrition; because proper nutrition can effect a a person’s mood and energy positively. So have plenty of fruits, vegetables and regular meals. If there is the case when you don’t feel hungry, you should try to eat something light, like a piece of fruit, in order to keep you going on.

5. Look on the positive side: Most of the time depression affects a person’s thoughts, making everything for them to seem dismal, negative, and desperate. If depression has you noticing only the negative, you should make an effort to notice the good things in the life. First try to notice one thing, then try to think of one more and so on. Do consider your strengths, blessings or gifts. Most of all, don’t forget to be patient with yourself first as the depression takes time to heal.
